Biennial Report

Cover of the ANVUR Biennial Report

The ANVUR Biennial Report is an essential tool for understanding the evolution of the academic and research system in Italy, offering a wide range of data and an in-depth, structured analysis of the main ongoing trends.

The first part of the 2023 Biennial Report focuses on tertiary education, exploring the main trends concerning students—from enrolment patterns to study programmes undertaken, up to the academic results achieved. It also examines the management of economic and human resources, institutional expenditures, and the diversity of the educational offer, providing a detailed overview of the higher education and AFAM sectors.

The second section is devoted to the research system, with a focus on institutional aspects, the landscape of available national and European resources, and Italy’s positioning in the international context. This analysis highlights the strategic role of research for the country's scientific and technological progress.

Completing the picture, the third part of the report provides an analysis of particularly significant topics, addressing specific and current issues. This in-depth section allows for the investigation of emerging dynamics and challenges that are redefining the priorities and strategies of the university and research system.
