State-funded AFAM institutions are Higher Education Institutions in the Arts, Music and Dance sector that were originally established by local authorities and subsequently incorporated into the national higher education system. During the initial period following their incorporation into the state system, these institutions are subject to a specific evaluation procedure.

At the request of the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the evaluation is conducted only once, within the first three years of the institution’s operation as a state-funded institution. It consists of assessing the adequacy of financial, infrastructural, and human resources in relation to the scope of the educational provision offered and the number of enrolled students.

Where the evaluation results are positive, subsequent evaluations are carried out according to the same procedures and arrangements applicable to state AFAM institutions.

Where the evaluation results are negative, the MUR may order further assessments, provide for the institution’s transformation into a branch campus of another institution or, in cases of serious structural and educational deficiencies, order its closure.
