The accreditation process for PhD programmes in the 41st Cycle (XLI Ciclo) involved 1,241 programmes, including 82 Industrial PhD programmes, 12 National PhD programmes and 13 Industrial National PhD programmes.

Of the 1,241 accredited programmes:

• 507 are administered by universities located in northern regions,
• 368 are based in central regions,
• 366 are in southern regions.

Additionally, 21 programmes are offered by telematic universities, and 3 by institutions authorized to issue qualifications equivalent to a PhD, pursuant to Article 74 of Presidential Decree No. 382 of July 11, 1980.
