The National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR) and the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) today signed in Rome a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting evaluation activities in Veterinary Medicine education and the quality assurance of the study programmes offered by Italian universities in this field.

The agreement was signed by the ANVUR President, Prof. Antonio Felice Uricchio, and the EAEVE President, Prof. Petra Winter.

The Memorandum aims to coordinate and make evaluation processes more efficient, including through the possibility of introducing joint visits to university sites. This approach will foster integration between the national and European regulatory frameworks for the development of Veterinary Education Establishments (VEEs).

The agreement is part of the broader framework of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), in which both organisations operate as full members of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). The initiative represents a significant step in consolidating ANVUR’s internationalisation efforts.

Following the signing of the Memorandum, ANVUR held an informational webinar addressed to Italian universities offering veterinary training programmes. Speakers included , Dr Alessio Ancaiani, Head of the Higher Education Institutions Evaluation Area, and Dr Simone Via, Head of the Internationalisation Unit. The speakers illustrated the strategic objectives of the agreement and the prospects for developing cooperation, highlighting the expected benefits for universities and for the overall quality of Veterinary Medicine study pathways.
