The National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes (ANVUR) is pleased to announce the inauguration of its new Governing Board, a moment which the Agency regards with great involvement and a renewed sense of responsibility towards the country's higher education and research system.

Professor Venerando Marano has been appointed President, alongside Professors Giovanna Cassese, Matteo Lorito, Francesco Priolo and Aurelio Tommasetti, Members of the Governing Board.
The President and the Members, appointed by Decree of the President of the Republic on the proposal of the Minister of University and Research, Senator Anna Maria Bernini, having consulted the competent parliamentary committees, will serve for the four-year term 2026-2030.

Upon taking office, the new Governing Board assumed its functions as the Agency's body for strategic direction, responsible for defining the guidelines and methodologies for evaluation activities, planning future activities, and approving evaluation results and ANVUR's budgets. In starting its work, the Board underlined the importance of constant information-sharing and ongoing dialogue among all its Members, regarded as strategic in strengthening the Agency's action.

Reflecting on what he considers to be the decisive points of his mandate, President Prof. Venerando Marano stated:

"I take up the Presidency of ANVUR with a deep sense of institutional duty and full awareness of the responsibility that this role entails. Together with the Members of the Board, whom I thank for the expertise they bring and the rigour with which I am certain they will carry out their duties, we will work with a spirit of listening and collaboration, in dialogue with the Ministry, with institutions and with the entire academic and scientific community, to strengthen the quality of the Italian university and research system. The Agency will continue to carry out its evaluation mission with independence, for the benefit of universities, AFAM institutions, Research Bodies, researchers and students. A commitment, grounded in autonomy and transparency, which will translate into support for the country's development policies for higher education and research."
