On November 14th, 2017, with a formal letter to ENQA, ANVUR expressed its interest to undergo the procedure for admission to the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), and at the same time to apply for inclusion in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). After receiving the confirmation of Eligibility from EQAR (March 1st, 2018), on the 19th of March 2018 ANVUR published on its website the document Terms of Reference. The procedures include the drafting by ANVUR of a Self-Assessment Report (SAR), published on September 26th, and the on-site visit by a panel of experts appointed by ENQA. The on-site visit took place at the ANVUR’s offices in Rome on November 19th-22nd 2018. The ENQA panel interviewed representatives of the University community and stakeholders (Site visit Agenda).
The ENQA Board made the final decision on 20 June 2019 (Letter ENQA to ANVUR) admitting ANVUR as a member of ENQA for the next 5 years, with a mid-term review by 2021 (ANVUR external review report).ENQA is the international body created following the recommendation of the Council on European co-operation in quality assurance in higher education and has the task of accrediting the agencies operating in the countries participating in the Bologna process in charge for HEIs evaluation and quality assurance.
The registration of ANVUR in ENQA is a fundamental achievement for the Agency’s activities as an independent institution for the evaluation of the quality of teaching and research of Higher Education Institutions. This strenghtens the Agency’s presence on the international scene also with regard to the external evaluation of quality in compliance with the European Guidelines, Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015).
